Creamy Lemon Chicken Thighs with Sun-Dried Tomato Orzo is the ultimate cozy, weeknight dinner that feels indulgent but comes together in one pot. Tender, juicy chicken thighs are coated in a bright lemony cream sauce and served over orzo with sweet sun-dried tomatoes and a touch of garlic. Itโs creamy, tangy, and just a little decadent, making it perfect for a family dinner or when you want something comforting with minimal cleanup.
This dish is a weeknight hero. You get perfectly cooked chicken in a tangy, lemony cream sauce, paired with tender, flavorful orzo. The sun-dried tomatoes add a burst of sweetness, and the parmesan makes it rich and comforting. Plus, it all comes together in one pan, making cleanup a breeze. Your whole family will love it, and itโs one of those meals youโll happily make on repeat.
Season the chicken thighs with paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, lemon juice, salt, and pepper, coating them evenly. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat with a drizzle of olive oil and sear the chicken thighs for 4โ5 minutes per side, until golden and mostly cooked through. Remove the chicken and set aside.
In the same pan, add olive oil, sun-dried tomatoes, and diced onion. Cook for 3โ4 minutes until the onion softens, then add garlic and cook for another minute. Stir in the lemon juice, lemon zest, chicken broth, and cooking cream. Mix well and add the orzo, reducing the heat to medium-low. Simmer for 10โ12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the orzo is tender.
Stir in parmesan until creamy, and season with salt and pepper. Nestle the chicken thighs back into the pan, cover, and cook another 5โ7 minutes until fully cooked and sauce is thickened. Finish with chopped parsley and serve warm.
๐ How to Store Leftovers
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stove or in the microwave, adding a splash of chicken broth or cream to loosen the sauce.
Yes, but the cream sauce may separate slightly when frozen. Reheat slowly and stir in a splash of cream or broth to restore creaminess.
Yes! You can prepare the orzo sauce and chicken separately and combine them just before serving.

This was ABSOLUTELY delicious! Used boneless chicken breasts, lightly pounded (to make even) so they didn’t dry out did a quick sear. Also used the barista oat milk mixed with some heavy cream to save calories! Can’t believe how much flavor it had for such little effort!
Side note though: The written instructions don’t mention adding the sundried tomatoes when adding the onion. It mentions it up above in the explanation, but not in the actual instructions (Step 2). I knew when to add them from common sense, but figured I would let you know before a negative Nancy gets in your comments about it!
Question – do you use boneless or bone-in chicken thighs? Does using one over the other affect cooking time?
Hi! Iโm looking forward to making this recipe! Do you recommend bone in or boneless chicken thighs?
I like boneless! Enjoy!
