A few years ago, I had the once in a lifetime opportunity to study abroad for seven months in my favourite place, Tel Aviv. While I was living there, I totally immersed myself into Israeli culture, and one thing that I picked up and definitely brought home with me was my obsession with hummus. 

Some people like to call me “hummus-obsessed”, but really I just fell in love with this delicious versatile dip that can be used on / with almost ANYTHING. One thing that I particularly love about this protein-packed food; hummus, is that it allows for plant-forward meals that are simple to prep, pack, and best of all, are extremely flavourful.

As most of you know by now, I am a very healthy person who loves to indulge in foods that make me feel good while tasting great, and hummus is one of them. Sweet & Smoky BBQ Salad Jars

Sweet & Smoky BBQ Salad Jars

Ingredients

(Makes for 1 Jar)

  • 1 cup of cooked quinoa
  • 2 tbsp. of Sabra Sweet & Smoky BBQ Hummus
  • 1 cup of chopped cucumber & tomatoes
  • 1 handful of spring mix
  • 5 Falafel Balls
  • 1 Tbsp of extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 lemon

Directions

  1. Cook quinoa according to package directions
  2. Meanwhile, prepare ingredients for the Jar. First layer the quinoa in the jar, followed by the Sabra Sweet & Smoky BBQ Hummus. 
  3. Then layer the chopped cucumber & tomatoes, spring mix and falafel balls.
  4. Mix together ingredients.
  5. Serve salad in a deep bowl and toss with the extra virgin olive oil and lemon.
